Dorothy Lane Market Recall and Outbreak
Dorothy Lane Market of Dayton, Ohio has issued a recall of ground beef products sold between June 9th and July 29th for possible contamination with E. coli O157:H7. Dorothy Lane Market sold 25,000 packages of raw ground beef during this time.
The recalled meat included ground beef components provided by Nebraska Beef, Ltd. of Omaha, Nebraska, which has recalled over 5 million pounds of ground beef components due to possible E. coli contamination. Nebraska Beef, Ltd. is also linked to a multistate E. coli outbreak.
In a report by Dayton Daily News, DLM said, “Unfortunately, our longtime supplier, Coleman Natural Meats, had used this processing plant on a temporary basis, and apparently some of our beef was affected.”
At least six people in the area have become ill, at least 2 of whom consumed ground beef purchased at Dorothy Lane Market. All of these cases are part of the multistate E. coli outbreak mentioned above.
